1Co 12:8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
1Co 12:9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
1Co 12:10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:
1Co 12:11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.
There is a stark contrast between the kingdom of God and the Babylonian system. Although it may appear that Satan and his cohorts are winning, there really is no contest. Satan has already lost!
Eph 1:17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
Eph 1:18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
Eph 1:19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
Eph 1:20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
Eph 1:21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:
Eph 1:22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,
Eph 1:23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.
The Apostle Paul’s was praying that the Ephesians would see their Christian experience from another perspective. According to tradition, the Apostle Paul wrote his epistle to the Ephesians while he was in prison. Often times it is difficult to see things outside of our own limited perspective. The early Church, as well as the Church throughout history, has suffered a great deal of persecution. This does not mean that Christians are on the losing side, far from it.
My dad was in the United States navy during World War II. He went through many anxious moments and experienced a lot of difficulties during the war. I asked him once, “Did you ever think the United States would lose the war?” He said, “No, I never thought we would ever lose.”
He was not looking at the war through rose colored glasses. He saw the war first hand, he was there as the United States military captured island after island, and occupied country after country in the Southern Pacific. Finally, he was there when the United States military occupied Japan. He hitchhiked into Tokyo, Japan’s capital, and its largest city, and he saw firsthand the city of Tokyo completely burned to ashes after months of bombing by incendiary bombs and napalm. The Church of Jesus Christ is going to witness something very similar encompassing the whole earth in the not too distant future.
Mal 4:2 But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.
Mal 4:3 And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the LORD of hosts.
Our perspective should be much clearer than that of the Ephesians. When the Ephesian Church was suffering persecution, they were just a small group of people under a tremendous amount of persecution from a predominantly pagan world.
We have nearly two thousand years of Church history behind us. The Church was first attacked by the pagan world and then Islam waged war on the Church for over a thousand years. Totalitarian communist governments have killed millions of Christians in just the last hundred years. Now there are well over two billion Christians on earth. I have heard that four people are converted to Christianity for every new birth and at the current rate of conversion, every person on earth will be a Christian by 2033…I expect it will be sooner than that! This is also a very big sign that we are currently living in the last days.
Mat 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
There is a Christian “tradition” that a third of the angels fell with Satan. I believe the percentage of angels that have fallen is far, far, less than a third. I would be surprised if even one (1%) percent of the angels have fallen from grace. This “tradition” comes from one verse in the Book of Revelation:
Rev 12:3 And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads.
Rev 12:4 And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.
According to the “traditional” teaching, the “stars of heaven” are angels. Therefore, they must be fallen angels that are cast down with Satan. I have a different interpretation of this verse.
First, in the Book of Revelation, God does not cast the stars of heaven to the earth. It is the great red dragon who “casts” the stars of heaven to the earth.
CAST: G906, ballō, bal'-lo
A primary verb; to throw (in various applications, more or less violent or intense): - arise, cast (out), X dung, lay, lie, pour, put (up), send, strike, throw (down), thrust. Compare G4496.
People always seem to blame God for Satan’s handy work. It is Satan that violently strikes or throws down these “stars of heaven.” I have an alternate interpretation for the “stars of heaven”. I believe the “stars of heaven” are the saints of God, and I believe the whole Bible supports this interpretation.
Gen 22:17 That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;
Gen 22:18 And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.
The Book of Galatians said that the SEED of Abraham was speaking about Jesus Christ.
Gal 3:16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.
The Apostle Paul explains in the Book of Romans that the seed of Abraham did not mean his “physical” descendants but God’s promise was to Abraham’s “spiritual” descendants through FAITH.
Rom 9:6 Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel:
Rom 9:7 Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called.
Rom 9:8 That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.
Paul later explained that the promises were not only for the Jews, but also for the Gentiles by FAITH!
Rom 9:23 And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory,
Rom 9:24 Even us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?
There are many verses in the Bible that specifically describe the descendants of Abraham as the stars of heaven, but the verses that deal specifically with the last days is in the Book of Daniel.
Dan 8:9 And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant land.
Dan 8:10 And it waxed great, even to the host of heaven; and it cast down some of the host and of the stars to the ground, and stamped upon them.
Dan 8:11 Yea, he magnified himself even to the prince of the host, and by him the daily sacrifice was taken away, and the place of his sanctuary was cast down.
We see the same imagery as in the Book of Revelation. The little horn casts down the “host of heaven” and the “stars” to the ground. I am pretty confident that this verse is not talking about “angels”.
STARS: H3556, kôkâb, ko-kawb'
Probably from the same as H3522 (in the sense of rolling) or H3554 (in the sense of blazing); a star (as round or as shining); figuratively a prince: - star ([-gazer]).
We see later in the Book of Daniel that the saints are described as “stars” for ever and ever.
Dan 12:2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
Dan 12:3 And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.
Today we have movie stars and we have rock stars, but I believe in the last days there will be Christian stars. Imagine if Jesus Christ or His Apostles were living on earth today. Imagine they were casting out demons, healing the sick, raising the dead, and performing mighty miracles everywhere they went with hundreds of cell phones recording their every move. Talk about paparazzi, they would make movie stars and rock stars pale in comparison. Remember that the Apostles turned the world upside down before the modern media was even invented yet!
Act 17:6 And when they found them not, they drew Jason and certain brethren unto the rulers of the city, crying, These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also;
When the sons of God appear on the scene in these last days, they will also “turn the world upside down.” Imagine the reaction of the Babylonian system when they see their whole demonic, hierarchical system being questioned and condemned. They will react the same way Roman and Jewish leadership reacted, they will start persecuting and killing the sons of God.
Mat 10:27 What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops.
Mat 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
All through the gospels Jesus is telling His disciples to FEAR NOT. We know from the New Testament that FEAR is a demonic spirit.
2Ti 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
2Ti 1:8 Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;
FEAR: G1167, deilia, di-lee'-ah
From G1169; timidity: - fear.
G1169, deilos, di-los'
From δέος deos (dread); timid, that is, (by implication) faithless: - fearful.
Do you see that FEAR simply means WITHOUT FAITH.
Why did the young David run to meet Goliath when all of Israel’s mighty men were hiding in their tents? Why did the children of Israel refuse to enter into the Promised Land when Joshua and Caleb exhorted them that it was a good land?
Num 14:23 Surely they shall not see the land which I sware unto their fathers, neither shall any of them that provoked me see it:
Num 14:24 But my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bring into the land whereinto he went; and his seed shall possess it.
Fear can literally cripple you, if you allow it to take control over your life. Fear is a grievous sin against God. When you fear, you are telling God that you do not believe His word. Not only is being afraid a sin, but putting fear on others is also a sin. You are allowing a demonic spirit to control your actions.
Rev 21:7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
Rev 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
The fearful are put in the same class as murderers, whoremongers, and sorcerers. Not exactly the best of company.
When I was young and foolish, I believed that if somebody tried to put me in fear, then that gave me the right to put them in even more fear. I did not realize I was giving myself over to a demonic spirit. Yes, even spirit filled, tongue talking Christians can give themselves over to demonic spirits!
The spirit of fear can hit you like a wave. The hair stands up on the back of your neck, chills run up and down your spine, you want to run…or fight! The proper way to deal with a demonic spirit is simple:
- SPEAK THE WORD OF GOD…2Ti 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. (EVERY CHRISTIAN SHOULD MEMORIZE THIS VERSE)
- SAY THE FOLLOWING: “I command the spirit of fear to leave in the name of Jesus Christ!”
I think you will be surprised how fast the feeling of fear will leave once you deal with it as a spiritual problem and not as a physical problem. You do not need a drawer full of “feel good” pills, or around the clock body guard protection, to deal with fear. You simply need to KNOW the Word of God and speak His Word in FAITH. God loves you!
This article is going to be longer than usual because there is something that I believe every Christian should know. I believe every Christian must know their specific spiritual gift. Christians may exercise more than one gift, but I believe we each have one major gift from the Holy Spirit. We are each especially endowed with ONE gift for the edification of the Church.
Satan will attack us at our spiritual strength to keep us from operating in the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, if you suffer from a disabling FEAR, there is a very good chance that your special gift from the Holy Spirit is FAITH! As you begin exercising your faith and start dealing with fear with the Word of God, you will not only break your own bondage, but you will be instrumental in setting other people free from the spirit of fear.
1Jn 4:17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.
1Jn 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
1Jn 4:19 We love him, because he first loved us.
