Act 8:9 But there was a certain man, called Simon, which beforetime in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one:
Act 8:10 To whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God.
Act 8:11 And to him they had regard, because that of long time he had bewitched them with sorceries.
Act 8:12 But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
Act 8:13 Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done.
Act 8:14 Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:
Act 8:15 Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:
Act 8:16 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)
Act 8:17 Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.
Act 8:18 And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money,
Act 8:19 Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost.
Act 8:20 But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.
Act 8:21 Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God.
Act 8:22 Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee.
Act 8:23 For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity.
Act 8:24 Then answered Simon, and said, Pray ye to the Lord for me, that none of these things which ye have spoken come upon me.
It is interesting that the Bible plainly states that Simon was a sorcerer. It also states that Simon bewitched (amazed, astounded) the people with sorceries.
SORCERER: G3096, mageuō
From G3097; to practice magic: - use sorcery.
The word, mageuo, is actually derived from the Babylonian word magos.
Of foreign origin [H7248]; a Magian, that is, Oriental scientist; by implication a magician: - sorcerer, wise man.
The Babylonian word MAGOS was itself derived from the title of a Babylonian official, rabmag.
From [ H7227] and a foreign word for a Magian; chief Magian; Rab-Mag, a Babylonian official: - Rab-mag.
Apparently, the City of Babylon, like ancient Egypt, was administered, governed, and ruled by sorcerers or RABMAG’s (chief Magian). Which brings me to my main thesis: I BELIEVE MODERN BABYLON IS ALSO RULED BY SORCERERS!
Rev 17:12 And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.
Rev 17:13 These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast.
Also, it is very interesting that this is where the word Rabbi originated.
RABBI: G4461, rhabbi
Of Hebrew origin [H7227] with pronominal suffix; my master, that is, Rabbi, as an official title of honor: - Master, Rabbi.
Jesus specifically told his disciples not to allow anybody to call them Rabbi because our teacher and guide is NOT a man but CHRIST and ONLY CHRIST!
Mat 23:8 But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren.
MASTER: G2519, kathēgētēs
From a compound of G2596 and G2233; a guide, that is, (figuratively) a teacher: - master.
Sorcerers achieve their power by contact, interaction, and channeling demonic spirits. Similarly, mature Christians achieve power (dunamis) by contact, fellowship, and channeling the HOLY SPIRIT (CHRIST)!
Act 8:10 To whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power (dunamis) of God.
POWER: G1411, dunamis
From G1410; force (literally or figuratively); specifically miraculous power (usually by implication a miracle itself): - ability, abundance, meaning, might (-ily, -y, -y deed), (worker of) miracle (-s), power, strength, violence, mighty (wonderful) work.
The main emphasis of the world wide Babylonian hierarchal structure is to encourage people, who are willing, to be trained as demonic channels AND to discourage people from channeling the HOLY SPIRIT.
People who appear to have a talent for channeling demonic spirits are identified and “tapped” for invitation to join “exclusive” occult clubs, groups, or organizations. Then they are slowly groomed and taught “secret” knowledge. As these people become more adept at channeling demonic spirits they move up in the Babylonian hierarchy and acquire worldly wealth, power, and fame.
Christians, on the other hand, who are baptized in the Holy Spirit, and begin to manifest the gifts of the spirit (speaking in tongues, prophecy, healing, etc.), if they are in the hierarchal Babylonian church, will be quickly shut down. They are taken aside and privately told that the gifts of Holy Spirit need to be “decent and in order”, thereby implying the Christian is being indecent and disorderly, or they simply tell the Christian to find another church. The rulers of the Babylonian synagogues tried to do the same thing to Jesus.
Luk 13:14 And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus had healed on the sabbath day, and said unto the people, There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day.
Jesus was not shut down by the ruler of the synagogue…He quickly shut them down.
Luk 13:15 The Lord then answered him, and said, Thou hypocrite, doth not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to watering?
Luk 13:16 And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?
It is easy to attend many so called charismatic churches and believe you have accidently stumbled into a funeral home. Some Babylonian churches will hire musicians or singers to liven things up, but that is a pale and pitiful substitute for the presence of the Holy Spirit. COME OUT OF BABYLON!
