Gen 3:22  And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:

It is amazing how the meaning of a verse can change when you go back to the original Hebrew.

Here is what I get from Genesis 3: 22

BECOME       AS ONE          OF                    US,TO KNOW         GOOD            AND EVIL

Hayah             echad          minni                    yada                    tobe                rah

EXIST             ALONE     BY REASON OF         KNOWING          GOOD             AND EVIL.

God is good and everything God is and does is GOOD. God does not KNOW evil, in the sense that He cannot be intimate or familiar with evil.   Therefore, once Adam became intimate with evil, Adam purposely separated himself from intimacy with God. Adam and Eve became ALONE and in darkness!
However, Glory be to God, we know the rest of the story. Jesus followed hard after Adam and all of his lost children, Jesus entered into the darkness, and HE overcame the darkness, because JESUS IS THE LIGHT!

BECOME: H1961, hâyâh, haw-yaw'
A primitive root (compare H1933); to exist, that is, be or become, come to pass (always emphatic, and not a mere copula or auxiliary):
AS ONE: H259, 'echâd, ekh-awd'
A numeral from H258; properly united, that is, one; or (as an ordinal) first: - a, alike, alone, altogether, and, any (-thing), apiece, a certain [dai-] ly, each (one), + eleven, every, few, first, + highway, a man, once, one, only, other, some, together.

We can understand the meaning of “echad”  (AS ONE) as really meaning “alone” if we look up the words context in the Book of Ecclesiastes:

Ecc 4:9  Two are better than one (ECHAD); because they have a good reward for their labour.
Ecc 4:10  For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is ALONE (ECHAD) when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.
Ecc 4:11  Again, if two lie together, then they have heat: but how can one (ECHAD) be warm alone?
Ecc 4:12  And if one (ECHAD) prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.

OF: H4480, min  minnı̂y  minnêy, min, min-nee', min-nay'
For H4482; properly a part of; hence (prepositionally), from or out of in many senses:

US, TO KNOW: H3045, yâda‛. yaw-dah'
A primitive root; to know (properly to ascertain by seeing); used in a great variety of senses, figuratively, literally, euphemistically and inferentially (including observation, care, recognition; and causatively instruction, designation, punishment, etc.): comprehend, consider, X could they, cunning, (can, cause to) discern, discover, endued with, familiar friend, famous, kinsfolk, kinsman, (cause to, let, make) know, (come to give, have, take) knowledge, have [knowledge], (be, make, make to be, make self) known, + be learned.

GOOD: H2896, ṭôb, tobe
From H2895; good (as an adjective) in the widest sense; used likewise as a noun, both in the masculine and the feminine, the singular and the plural (good, a good or good thing, a good man or woman; the good, goods or good things, good men or women), also as an adverb (well): - beautiful, best, better, bountiful, cheerful, at ease, X fair (word), (be in) favour, fine, glad, good (deed, -lier, liest, -ly, -ness, -s), graciously, joyful, kindly, kindness, liketh (best), loving, merry, X most, pleasant, + pleaseth, pleasure, precious, prosperity, ready, sweet, wealth, welfare, (be) well ([-favoured]).

EVIL: H7451, ra‛  râ‛âh, rah, raw-aw'
From H7489; bad or (as noun) evil (naturally or morally). This includes the second (feminine) form; as adjective or noun: - adversity, affliction, bad, calamity, + displease (-ure), distress, evil ([-favouredness], man, thing), + exceedingly, X great, grief (-vous), harm, heavy, hurt (-ful), ill (favoured), + mark, mischief, (-vous), misery, naught (-ty), noisome, + not please, sad (-ly), sore, sorrow, trouble, vex, wicked (-ly, -ness, one), worse (-st) wretchedness, wrong. [Including feminine ra’ah; as adjective or noun.]

HERE IS MY ALTERNATE TRANSLATION:

Gen 3:22  And the LORD God said, Behold, the man exists alone by reason of knowing  good and evil and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:

The very moment that Adam and Eve ate of the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil, they ceased knowing only good (favour, joyful, loving, prosperity, wealth)… and they began to become intimately acquainted with evil (adversity, calamity, distress, grief, hurt, wretchedness).

God had to send Adam and Eve out of the Garden of Eden to prevent them from being in a state of perpetual ALONENESS forever.

God never wanted evil for mankind. We were created to channel God’s goodness to His creation. We were created for FELLOWSHIP, mainly with God, but also with God’s creation.

Our main problem is our lack of awareness. We have been experiencing evil for so many generations, we think that it is “just the way it is supposed to be!” The world and Satan and all of his demonic kingdom want to convince us that there is nothing that can be done. We cannot conceive of experiencing ONLY GOOD. There is really only ONE WAY to escape our current predicament.

Joh 8:12  Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

We are similar to those abandoned and broken down temples that explorers occasionally stumble upon deep in the jungles of Southeast Asia or South America. At one time these lost temples were the center of some ancient community but after long years of abandonment they eventually became infested with all kinds of vermin and creeping things.

When we are first saved and we begin to experience the first light of Jesus Christ’s presence, we begin to notice the creeping slithering things that have become so comfortable sharing our temple. These intruders do not like the light, they were much more comfortable in the darkness of our unbelief.

However, we must resist the very strong temptation to extinguish the light by not pressing forward into deeper fellowship with Jesus Christ. It can be very embarrassing for us when the Holy Spirit begins to reveal our deepest inner-most secrets. As we progress into deeper and closer fellowship with Jesus, and as His light becomes brighter all those creeping slithering creatures begin to leave our temple. They do not leave because of our own works, but only because they cannot stand to stay in His presence.

If we continue in deeper and deeper fellowship, the light of Jesus Christ will completely illuminate our temple and drive out all those unwanted guests because they cannot be comfortable in His presence.

1Jn 1:5  This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

Eventually, if we continue meditating on His Word, and praying in the Spirit, and receiving revelation, we will be set completely free.

Mat 5:14  Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
Mat 5:15  Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
Mat 5:16  Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Once the light of Jesus Christ begins to shine out of our temple, it will begin to illuminate everything and everyone around us. People will either welcome the light or they will flee from the light. This is going to cause a great separation in the near future.
People will either want to begin to fellowship with Christ and us in the light or they will want to extinguish the light.

1Th 5:2  For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
1Th 5:3  For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
1Th 5:4  But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
1Th 5:5  Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
1Th 5:6  Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
1Th 5:7  For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.

We know that the day of the Lord is at hand because the world is in such deep darkness. However, the light that is being revealed in us will soon overcome the darkness.

Isa 60:1  Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee.
Isa 60:2  For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.
Isa 60:3  And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.

Now is the time to press forward into deeper fellowship with the LORD because the last great harvest is soon to begin and His light will draw all His lost sheep back to closer and deeper FELLOWSHIP with God!
